Dreads In Jamaica

Q: Hey I'm a white guy with nappy dreads, not for Judah or Rasta beliefs. I respect that culture completely but its not my thing, my dreads have their own purposes. Anyway I am traveling to aid projects in Jamaica soon and I wanted to know if having dreads would offend any of the Jamaican locals like, I was also wondering what the attitude towards the English is like in Jamaica as I have heard a really mixed set of stories.
cheers
A: One love man. You will not offend anyone. You will not be the first white guy to come to Jamaica with dreads. You will be welcome just like everyone else...plus you are going to do a good deed that which is even better. The locals will appreciate you even more.
I don't know what you have heard, but I lived in Jamaica for a long time and the only thing I know is that some Jamaicans feel that the English always come to take away from and not give to... the country. That's about it.
All you have to do is know how to handle yourself with the locals, be nice and kind if you can...and they will love and appreciate you regardless of where you are from.
We love to have visitors coming to our Island from all walks of life...this is one of the things that the country thrive on...so, as long as you stick with the basics you will be alright.
...just don't go to any places you don't know about by yourself. Make sure you have others with you who you can trust.
Peace.
