Help Thicken My Dreads

by Grynch

Q: What do you put on the dreads to make them thicker, I was told to use a banana leaf but I don't know where to get the leaf. I have been growing my dreads for 2 yrs and 3 months now.

A: I am assuming that you have thin locks (I don't know how long)...but you will want to somehow combine these thinner locks in such a way that they lock together at the root to form thicker locks as they grow out.

This will take time!

One way to do this is to combine the thinner locks with rubber band(s) at the root and leave them together for a few months well. As new hair grows, they will merge together.

You can try to rubber band the middle and tip too, but they probabably will not merge like the root...for the simply fact that they are already grown out. In any case, just leave then there and as your hair continues to grow and lock at the root you can clip the tip.

Eventually, your entire locks will be thickened...but it will take a while!

Hope this helps. Let us know how it work out for you...and send us a before and after picture.
