How born Jamaicans feel about baldheads (white people)

Q: Hello!
First off, thanks for the fabulous video tutorials on the jamaican language, mon. I hope to see more of them, I really do. :)
Now to my question:
If I as a white male were to move to Jamaica, how would I be accepted amongst the black folks/rastafarians?
Is there alot of racism against whites or would I be able to just chill out with some laid back rastafarians and puff off a spliff and make new friends?
Thank you in advance me breda.
Peace
A: Gabbe,
First off, you are welcome! Glad you appreciate the patwa course.
Second, to answer your question, Jamaicans are some of the most friendly people on the planet. We get along well with everybody. Yes we have isms and schisms, but we don't have any racism.
In fact, we have all kinds of races living together on the island in peace and harmony: black, white, Indians, Asians...you name it.
You would be surprise to know that there are whites, Asians, Indians, among others...living on the island that are born Jamaicans...and you would not know until they open their mouth to talk to you...and the "patwa" comes out.
So, yes you will be able to relax with some laid back rastas and do your thing. Just make sure that you know those rastas or whomever else you choose to be laid back with. Make sure you can trust them.
...because just like anywhere else in the world not everyone is trustworthy.
Apart from that, you are welcome! Just plan your move, then move your plan into action...wisely.
Peace
