I must say that is quite an achievement...but I am not surprised.
After such a stellar performance in the Gold Cup, knocking off the likes of Honduras, Guatemala...teams that we actually struggle to beat in the past...and putting fear in the hearts of the Americans, all I have to say is we deserve it.
Unfortunately we did not live up the hype in the game against the Americans, but I can assure you the "Boyz" will be back.
What we saw earlier this month (June 2011) is something the I always knew the Boyz were capable of.
They have the fundamental skills, the speed, the brains, etc...they just needed to be able to put it together as a team, play possession football, and dictate the pace of the game.
...and they are slowly getting there.
Being 38 on FIFA's list is an extremely high achievement. What this number transforms into is one word RESPECT!
Yep! Respect for Jamaican football (soccer). I only hope these young players get the chance to play overseas and get more exposure to international football.
Based upon what I see this past, June, I think the "Boyz" will qualify for their second world cup in 2014.
