Jamaican Yellow Yam Pudding


1 cup grated raw yellow yam

1 1/2 cup of bread crumbs

1/2 lb flour

1 cup soak fruits (raisin, currant, mixed peel, nuts, soaked in rum and a little wine)

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp nutmeg, a little burnt sugar, and grated lime rind



1. With fork beat grated yam lightly

2. mix all ingredients together and steam in  a pudding steamer for about 2 hours or place in oven (250 degrees) and bake for at least 3 hours

3. Serve with Jamaican rum sauce

    I’ve been on you page for the past hour. Love love love it!!!!! Please tell me where I can get and what is a pudding steamer. Got my stewed chicken down and would love to try this!!!!
