Javon Francis Dominates 400 m Field

Javon Francis is no doubt one of our brightest stars for the future of Jamaican track and field. After an unbelievable performance at the world Championship, he returned here at the annual boys champs to make a statement to the world that he will be one to reckon with in the future of the 400 m event.

In this run, he breaks Usain Bolt’s record with a scintillating run, crushing the field in the process and covering the distance in 45 s flat. His performance had star quality written all over it.

One has to wonder what will this young star do next. Bolt eventually switched to 100 and 200 m…will Javon do the same?

One thing is clear though…the sky is the Limit for Javon Francis. With this run, about 11 seconds per 100 m…which means that he has more than enough talent and athleticism to switch to the 100 m if he chooses. Personally, I hope he does not…or if he chose to…that he maintain some connection with this event.

This is one event that Jamaica has not dominated on the world scene…so he is our our hope here. With this kind of performance, the future looks bright for Jamaica and Francis in the 400 m
