In this New Zealand Vs West Indies – Day 3 Highlights, the west Indies were bowled out for a dismal 262 in just under 6 hours yesterday…in response to New Zealand’s 508-7 declare.
It was another show of pathetic batting by the West Indies. Gone are the days when our batsmen would sit at the crease and wear out the bowlers from the opposing teams. Thanks to Chanderpaul and Gayle we were not totally embarrassed.
…speaking of Chanderpaul, he ended up undefeated on 84, while Gayle made 64 being dismissed by a well bowled ball which he mis-judged miserably from Southee. That’s about all the resistance the West Indies put up today.
New Zealand could have forced the follow-on, but instead chose to bat again with a comfortable lead of 246. Jamaican fast bowler Jerome Taylor would strike quickly removing Peter Fulton for a duck…reaching for a ball that was wide of the off stump.
Shane Willamson would soon follow… bowled by Kemar Roach with a brilliant delivery that took out his off stump as he left the ball alone. He went for 2. New Zealand was down to 7 for 2…an overall lead of 253.
The remaing batsmen held on until the end of the game with the score at 14 for 2.
Tomorrow the West Indies hope to get 2 or 3 more quick wickets to give themselves a chance of getting back into the game…and hopefully pull out a draw or even a win (who knows).
We will see how that turns out.
