Oral Storytelling
Q: What differences in oral storytelling are there between the minority and majority groups(classes)of people in Jamaica? What important message or lesson would each group want to convey?
A: There is no difference. Story telling is story telling in Jamaica. All groups grow up together and attend the same schools regardless of class. The one common denominator is ability. If you are "bright," as we call it in Jamaica, you go to the traditional "good" schools, if not you go to the traditionally "not so good" school.
While there, they learn, read, and listen to the same stories.
The messages in the stories is about life on the Island.
