Rastafarian Diet

What “mek up” the rastafarian diet? Do they eat the same food like everybody else? or do they have their own food? let’s check it out! rastafarian diet

I always see the rasta man eating his food and as far as I can tell, it don’t look any different from what I eat.

Them eat fruits, vegetable, ground food, and meat just like I do. Or do they?

Well! There are some differences.

Number one, not all rastas eat meat…and those who do, “eat clean.”

“Eat clean?” what is that? Well!

That mean that they don’t eat pork or shellfish. In fact, anything in the ocean without scales, they don’t eat.

So “whey” all of these rules come from? The bible!

Yep! believe it or not a lot of the rastafarian beliefs come straight out of the bible.

rastafarian dietIf you check out the book of Leviticus, you will see a dietary law established there. This is what they follow.

So, what the rastafarian diet boils down to is just fruits, vegetables, ground products and “clean meat” excluding red meat of course for some.

This is what they call “ital.”

The Rasta Doctor
One more thing I have to touch on before I go. Sickness!

What do the rastaman (I am using this generically) do when he get sick?

He go to the rasta doctor. Rasta doctor? Yep!

You see the rasta doctor is a man that deal with herbs and roots for the healing of the rastaman.

…which take me to another point. Rasta believe in and used herbs just like they use food…another biblical principle.

“Herbs are for the healing of the nations.” which mean for every sickness you can find, there is a herb that can heal it. You just need to find the herb! rastafarian diet

That’s where the rasta doctor comes in. His expertise is to find that herb and add a little prayer, and or sorcery to conjure up that potent medicine.

Does it work? Ask the rastaman!
