rastafarism, haile selassie

by Andrew
(Sweden)Hello. I wanna be a rastafarian…and the last 6 years I have listened to reggae but this summer I found a bigger passion for it then before and I found a new self within rasta… the way of life as the rasta live was more like me!

Everything in rastafarism seems like ME though there is one thing that troubles me…as I understand rastafarians believe that Haile Selassie is God or the MESSIAH reincarnated.

And I just cant see how Haile Selassie could be god, now I am orthodox and have believed all my life the Almighty God exists. So my question is do you have to believe in Haile Selassie or not? and if I must as a rastafarian can you please help me and give me some proof for it?

A:No you don’t have to believe in haile selassie as god. It is all up to you.

But if you are going to be a rastafarian, one would think that’s what you believe…because that’s one of their foundational principles.

I am not a rasta, and I don’t believe what rastas believe. On the contrary, I believe that the Almighty is God..

Therefore if you want to get the answer to your second question, your best bet is to talk to a rastafarian and they will explain this belief to you.

Hope this helps

by: Ras Othniel What you have to ask yourself is: What does the Bible say about the “Almighty”! What is Jah….is Jah an unseen spirit that can manifest if flesh?
This is the fundamental question that must be answered scripturally and not dogmatically.

I will point you towards 1 scripture…and then you can study to show thyself approved, a workman/woman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth!

(Gen 18:1 [KJV])
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

(Gen 18:2 [KJV])
And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

(Gen 18:3 [KJV])
And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

(Gen 18:4 [KJV])
Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

(Gen 18:5 [KJV])
And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
(Gen 18:5 [KJV])
And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

(Gen 18:6 [KJV])
And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.

(Gen 18:7 [KJV])
And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.

(Gen 18:8 [KJV])
And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

In the Bible when it speaks of “Lord” it means Yahweh(Jah) when you translate from English to Greek to the original Hebrew language.
so in the scripture Jah appears to Abraham with two Angels, Abraham feeds Jah and the Angels and washes their feet.
When you follow the scripture on you will find that Jah leaves Abraham and the two Angels and then the Angels go to physically destroy sodom and gommorah.

study these things and you will find that Jah is Flesh and Blood and has a “Seed” on earth! Read “Genesis” but before you read Genesis define Genesis and its root word “Gene”!
I man Pray that I man have steered you properly!
