Response to Head of Household question. by: Ann Marie
Well, it is not uncommon to find couples married a living separately on the island. They may be separated but not divorced...or they may have traveled to some far country.
So what I mean is that once the man is there in the home he has influence. When he is away it is hard for him to really be effective as the head of the home.
Yes, they should be living together if they are married, but sometimes circumstances does not allow it.

In part of the answer to the woman's question about the role of men and women in Jamaica you stated the man is head of the home "if he lives there.". If the man and woman are married, where else would he live? Is it normal for men and women to be married living separately? Thanks for the clarification!

I'm doing a research o the changing roles of women in the Jamaican society. I really like this article and want to include it in my research. However, I do not have the name of the writer/contributor who answered marinda's question. I cannot write the name of the site as the author. Please help me out. It would be good if I could get the year of publication as well. Thank you. Reply asap. I don't have much time.
