Update:(8/22/09) - Veronica Campbell add yet another medal to her already long list!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Re-live the moment in the video below...
She ran second to her long-time rival, Allyson Felix, in the 200m at the world championship in Berlin today.
...a repeat of the results of the 2007 world championships.
Campbell has, thus far, beaten Felix into second place in the previous two Olympics, but was in-turn beaten in second place by Felix at the last two World championships.
With this on-going rivalry, it is always interesting to see who is going to come out on top when they meet...
Veronica Campbell is no doubt one of Jamaica's hottest sprint queens on the island right now.
She stormed on the scene in 1999 years winning gold medals in the 100m and 4 x 100 m at the IAF World youth championships.
Prior to that, she was slowly developing at Vere Technical High school and began showing her class at the local Girls Champs.

When she migrated to the United States to further her studies, she was already on her way to 'big things' in the track and field 'world.'
In 2000, she won both the 100 m and 200 m at the IAF world Youth championship again.
At the commonwealth games, she won
...and at the World Championships, she won
...and at the 'grand daddy' of them all, the Athens Summer Olympics in 2004, she won gold in the 200m (above)
...and at the 2008 Bejing Olympics, she won gold again...(below}

In my book, she is indeed the queen of Jamaican sprint! Her consistency, toughness, longevity, along with her accolades speaks well for her career.
...and there is no doubt that she still has it in her to go on for a few more years...who knows perhaps just as long as Merlene Ottey, another Jamaican great.
Interestingly enough, there are others female sprint sensations gunning for her on the island...which is good for the sport. This just goes to show that there is a ton of sprint talents on the island.
With the world championship coming up in a couple weeks, it will be very interesting to see how she does.
