Visit to Jamaica and Safety concern

Question
I have visited Jamaica for the past 3 years at the resorts of Montego Bay and Negril. The latter was in February 2009 and not an all inclusive. I loved the lifestyle and Jamaican people so much that I have decided to stay with a Jamaican friend of mine of many years for one month in October 2009 in Kingston 13. Although Kingston is his home, I wonder how safe it will be for me as a white man? He is going to take me all around Jamaica and visit all the parishes. I am going to have a great time, but it's just the safety issue I am worried about. Do you have any advice you can give to me? Best wishes, Frenchman
AnswerI wish I could have gotten your question before now. You must have visited Jamaica by now and returned. I you are safe and well and enjoyed yourself.
The only thing I could have told you about the safety issue before your visit was that as long as the person who is taking you around is trustworthy you are safe.
He is your safety net. So make sure you know your him well. Good luck.
