Voodoo in Jamaica?

Q: Hello, I am taking a trip to Jamaica for the first time and am staying in Montego Bay in the resort which owns the infamous Rose Hall. I read about it and was interested in the voodoo that played a large role in the mansion's history. I was wondering, is there still voodoo practiced there today? If so, in what areas is it concentrated? Can one be witness to rituals or speak with practitioners? This would be for a thesis paper.

Thanks!

A: Jamaican Voodoo is called Obeah! You can find it in various corners of the island. You don't hear much about it because it is not something that is done out in the open.

The Obeah man supposedly has the power to marshal evil spirits to bring good or bad fortune.

If you want to speak to practitioners, you can. When you go to Jamaica, Ask somebody at hotel, they should be able to help you, especially in that area.
